1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Email address — when you join our early-access list.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data — browser type, pages visited, time on page, referral source, and similar website analytics used to understand how visitors interact with taplings.com. This information is aggregated where practical and is not used to personally identify visitors.
- IP address — logged by our hosting provider for security purposes and not linked to personal profiles.
NFC Tag Data
Taplings physical products contain a rewritable NFC tag. The tag stores only the information that you choose to write to it. Taplings does not collect, store, or process data from NFC tag interactions performed by users.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To send you launch updates, product news, and early-access notifications.
- To improve our website and user experience.

We will never sell your personal data to third parties or use it for purposes beyond those stated here without your explicit consent.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
Where applicable under data protection laws, including the UK GDPR, EU GDPR, or other applicable privacy laws, we process your email address based on your consent when you voluntarily submit it through our website. You may withdraw your consent at any time by unsubscribing.
4. Data Retention
We retain your email address until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Anonymised analytics data may be retained indefinitely.
5. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR and applicable data protection laws, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict processing.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at taplingss@gmail.com.
6. Cookies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to support website functionality and to better understand how visitors use the site. We do not use advertising cookies to build marketing profiles or sell your personal information.
7. Third-Party Services
We may use third-party services such as email delivery providers (e.g., Mailchimp, ConvertKit) to send communications. These providers process your email address in accordance with their own privacy policies and are bound by data processing agreements with us.
8. International Transfers
Some of our service providers may process data in countries outside your place of residence. Where required by applicable law, we take appropriate safeguards to protect personal information during international transfers.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. For the Taplings app, locally stored app data is protected using AES-256 encrypted storage, with encryption keys securely managed by your device where supported.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “last updated” date. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
11. Taplings App
This section describes how the Taplings mobile app (available on Google Play) handles data — distinct from this website, covered above.
Overview
The Taplings app is designed with a local-first approach. Information created or stored within the app remains on your device unless you explicitly choose to share it through your device or another service. It does not require an account and does not sync any data to the cloud.
What Stays On Your Device
Every saved record, your reading history, writing history, and other app data are stored locally on your device using AES-256 encrypted storage. This information is not transmitted to or accessible by Taplings and remains on your device unless you explicitly choose to share it through your device or another service.
NFC Tag Interactions
Reading and writing NFC tags happens entirely on your device. When you read an NFC tag, information from that tag may be saved to your encrypted local reading history so you can access it later. Any records or history saved by the app remain stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to Taplings or third parties. Information written to an NFC tag is determined entirely by the user or by third-party NFC writing applications. Taplings does not receive, monitor, store on its servers, control, or verify the content programmed onto any NFC tag, including URLs, websites, files, encrypted data, or other information, whether written using the Taplings app or any third-party NFC writing application.
Third Parties
The app does not share data with third parties, because it does not collect any data to share.
Platform Support
The Taplings app is intended to be available across supported mobile platforms. At launch, it is available on Android through Google Play. Availability and certain features may vary on other operating systems, including iOS, as development continues.
Future Services
Future versions of the Taplings app may introduce optional accounts, cloud synchronization services, or additional online services. If these features are introduced, this Privacy Policy will be updated to explain what information is collected, how it is used, and the choices available to users.
Contact
Questions about the app specifically can be sent to taplingss@gmail.com.
