No. The NFC tag is powered by the phone that taps it, so there is nothing to charge or replace.

Yes. Taplings use rewritable NFC tags, so you can update them with the Taplings app whenever you like.

No. Most modern iPhones and Android phones can read a Tapling without any app. The Taplings app is only needed to program your Tapling.

Most iPhones from the iPhone XS onwards read Taplings automatically. Older iPhones from the iPhone 7 to iPhone X can use the NFC Tag Reader in Control Center. Most Android phones support NFC; it just needs to be switched on in Settings.

Hold your Tapling within a few centimetres of the phone's NFC reader. On iPhone, that's the top edge. On most Android phones, it's the middle of the back.

Usually, yes. Most cases work fine. Very thick cases, metal cases, or cases with magnets or cards in the back can block the signal.

Yes. The Taplings app is free on the App Store and Google Play.

No. The app works without an account, and your saved records and history stay encrypted on your device.

Yes. Taplings work with standard NFC writing apps, although the Taplings app is designed to make it quick and simple.

No. We don't record who taps your Tapling or store what's written on it.

Because Taplings are rewritable, someone with physical access and an NFC app could change it. Keep your Tapling with you, and if it's been out of your hands, tap it to check it still opens what you expect.

A Tapling can't install apps or run code on your phone — it can only share a link or information. As with any link or QR code, only open things you trust.
